"The Michaelis Church"

The Church at Night

Picture: I placed my camera on a tripod and took pictures in different directions. During exposure I walked around and provided light with my flashlight. Afterwards I assembled the different pictures, thus recreating the original impression.

Technique: I used my Nikon F-801, an SB-24 flashlight, Ilford HP-5+ film developed in Ilfotec LC-29, printed on Multigrade III.

"Portrait"

Der Müller

Picture: Christoph looks mostly harmless, but you can get him to do almost anything. I wanted to emphasize that shade of his personality when I tied him, naked, to a tree and poured a bucket of water over his head.

Technique: Nikon F-801, Ilford HP-5+ in Ilfotec LC-29, Multigrade III, and a rope.

"Subway"

Underground

Picture: Although this almost looks like a picture of a subway train, in fact we see a subway station, not a train. Each of the little "windows" is a segment of the platform.

Technique: I used my Nikon FM-2 and Ilford FP-4 in Ilfotec LC-29. I cut off the perforation of the film and printed it in direct contact on Multigrade III.

"Parents"

Annemarie und Dietmar

Picture: My parents don't see each other very much during the day. In the evening they sometimes meet in the livingroom, my mother reads a book, my father sits in his armchair.

Technique: Nikon F-801, ILFORD HP-5+ in ILFOTEC LC 29, printed on ILFORD Multigrade III. I applied the developer with a brush to create the rings.

"Portrait of the Artist"

My Day

Picture: I took pictures of a complete day of mine, from waking up in the morning till falling asleep at night.

Technique: Nikon F-801, flash SB-24, Vivitar 19mm lens. I took all the pictures myself, stretching my arm out as far as possible. Developed in Ilfotec LC-29, printed on Multigrade III.

"They come at Night"

The Footprint

Picture: A criminalistic topic requires a criminalistic technique. I left an actual footprint on photographic paper, using margarine. Then I developed the paper, without any prior use of lenses or cameras. Later I added the blood. But that still does not answer the question - what did really happen that night?

Technique: My shoe, Rama margarine, Multigrade III paper, blood.
