The job market process starts with JOE, the Job Openings for Economists posted by the American Economics Association.

There is a lot of administrative gobbledygook that has to happen:
First you have to sift through all the job postings to get the ones you want. Then you have to put it all into a database. You have to write a cover letter. Merge the cover letter with the database. Don't forget address labels. Figure out how to address your letter when the contact information just says "Search Committee" (answer: write "Dear Sir or Madam,"). Et cetera...
