Kathryn Sanders Platnick

Kathryn Sanders Platnick is partner in O’Melveny & Myers LLP’s Los Angeles office and is Co-Head of the Private Equity Fund Practice. She has a broad-based transactional practice that includes a specific emphasis on partnership law and the formation of private and alternative investment funds. Her expertise also extends to mergers and acquisitions – particularly in connection with the acquisition and sale of investment advisors – and the securities regulations governing investment companies and investment advisors. On the securities front, she has extensive experience in establishing domestic and foreign investment funds for clients ranging from start up ventures to Trust Company of the West. Her work has involved both private placements and public offerings, with a particular emphasis on limited partnerships and offshore investment vehicles. Kathy also has extensive expertise in advising institutional investors with regard to investments with alternative investment vehicles. Kathy is former Chair of the Institute for Corporate Counsel. She is also currently a member of the Firm’s Compensation Committee, served on the firm’s Policy Committee for four years, and co-chaired the firm’s Diversity Task Force. Kathy earned a BA in Business Economics from UCLA and her J.D. from the University of Southern California.
