Undergraduate Program
Welcome to the UCLA Department of Economics. Are you interested in learning how
to solve interpersonal conflicts of interest and to coordinate productive
activity in a world of scarce resources? If so, then an economics major
is for you!
Economics is the study of how a society uses its limited resources to produce,
trade and consume goods and services. Courses examine how markets and organizations
allow individuals and societies to achieve their material goals. The majors
draw upon math, history and philosophy to further our understanding of human
interaction.
The skills you obtain (analysis, research, communication, problem solving)
will help you in any occupation you choose to follow.
